Performance from 8.30pm
The Spin is truly delighted to welcome back to the club the most rapidly ascending star on the UK jazz scene for many a decade!
Saxophonist Emma Rawicz, at the age of 22, has already released two critically-acclaimed albums of original compositions, has toured all over Europe and has rightly garnered glowing press from respected national publications and broadcasters. For example:
“An astonishing new talent” (Jamie Cullum – BBC Radio 2)
“A name on everyone’s lips right now” (Julian Joseph – J to Z BBC Radio 3)
“With ‘Chroma’ young British jazz star Emma Rawicz is taking admirable risks and continuing her warp-speed evolution. ★★★★” (John Fordham – The Guardian)
Emma’s outstanding musical qualities have attracted stellar musicians to work alongside her, such as Spin favourites, guitarists Ant Law and David Preston. Since last year’s London Jazz Festival, Emma has been working with super-star pianist Gwilym Simcock (of Pat Metheny’s group!)...
Emma is bringing her brilliant fare to the Spin with this outstanding band of players:
David Preston ~ guitar (the brilliant guitarist who has worked with Melody Gardot, David Binney, Eska, Gary Husband, Lianne La Havas etc..)
Kevin Glasgow ~ bass (extraordinarily virtuosic player - recently heard at The Spin with Nick Meier’s ‘World Group')
Asaf Sirkis ~ drums (where to start? - has worked with: Tim Garland, Soft Machine, Kenny Wheeler, Andy Sheppard, Gary Husband, John Abercrombie etc. etc.)
This is Emma’s working and touring outfit, so be prepared for a night of stunning ensemble playing from this constellation. This gig promises to be a Spin highlight, without a doubt! It will come as no surprise for you to read that this will sell out quickly….so folks, don’t miss out: book NOW!!
