Luke Vice-Coles & The Spin Band

Thursday 27th October 2022

With the view to continuing to promote players of ‘the new jazz generation’, we asked Harry Greene (yes, he, the tremendous sax player that blew everybody away at his gig at TOAD!)…who he would recommend to come and perform on trumpet. Harry’s response was instant: “Luke Vice-Coles is your man!” And so, we are delighted to be presenting this brilliant trumpeter at The White House for this date.

A 2020 graduate from the Royal Academy of music (First Class Honours), Luke has already gone on to perform internationally at major festivals and venues including the BBC Proms; Love Supreme; Glastonbury and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. He performs regularly with the BBC Big Band and, in a flip of styles, with the leading Acid Jazz band, The James Taylor Quartet.

Add to this list, for example, Luke’s work with funkmeister Cory Wong, classical champion Alison Balsom, or chanteuse supremo Claire Martin and you can see that you are about to be treated to a player that has everything covered!

Jazzwise
described Luke’s playing as having “such precision, sensitivity and enthusiasm” while The Guardian described his soloing as having “ideas that light up the whole piece”.
