Preston, Glasgow, Rochford
Wednesday 3rd May 2023
The Spin is currently mixing up the formats of the artists booked: we’ve had acts ranging from duos to septets…but for the first time, we are bringing to you a truly exceptional trio in Preston, Glasgow, Rochford!
These guys are all totally brilliant instrumentalists and are hugely hip and in demand players from all sorts of A-listers! Let us give you a very brief resumé:
Guitarist David Preston’s CV includes work with Gary Husband, Emma Rawicz, Melody Gardot, Curtis Stigers, Sy Smith & Jesse Harris, and notable US based jazz musicians David Binney, Charnett Moffet. These working partnerships bear testimony to the fact that David is a truly exceptional master of the guitar.
Bassist Kevin Glasgow is also in a class of his own. He plays 6-string electric bass with a melodic fervour and complete fluid ease, it’s as if he were gently coaxing a ukulele! Just check this out, for example:
Kevin regularly works with such top players as Tim Garland, Asaf Sirkis and Nicolas Meier.
Mercury Award nominee, Seb Rochford has played and recorded with an astonishing array of local and international luminaries, including: Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, Adele, Stan Tracey, Adrian Utley, Andy Sheppard, Sons of Kemet and Britten Sinfonia under the direction of maverick pianist Joanna MacGregor. Seb has just released his album, ‘A Short Diary’ on the world-famous ECM label.
This will be a truly exceptional concert that, despite being only a trio, will be somehow symphonic in its soundscapes of the hippest contemporary jazz.
