The Spin is truly delighted to host this top-flight band from New York. On their 2025 European tour, this is to be their only gig in the UK aside from Ronnie Scott’s!

Come to The Spin to see and hear one of the most exciting and brilliant guitarists of our times:

Jonathan Kreisberg has built a strong worldwide following and has influenced the next generation of musicians with his unique combination of timeless melodicism and forward thinking lines and textures. He is recognized as a player who has studied the Jazz language deeply while infusing it with fresh new ideas and expanding the possibilities of the guitar.

Jonathan has led various groups with star players and performed as a sideman with such notables as Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joe Locke, Ari Hoenig, Larry Grenadier, Bill Stewart, among many others. He has released 11 critically acclaimed CD's and has received the ASCAP Plus Award annually for 16 years.

Jonathan was a constant collaborator with NEA jazz master Dr. Lonnie Smith for 12 years, who said of Kreisberg “He is a passionate musician with great vision, and he is constantly in fiery pursuit of innovation.” Jonathan worked as performer and associate producer for Dr. Lonnie Smith's recent works on Blue Note Records.  He has performed 20th century works with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas.

Jonathan is also a respected educator with over 20 years of experience. In 2017 he released his first book of compositions and transcriptions, OFFERINGS OF NOTE, as well as a series of instructional videos called POLYRTHYTHMIC GUITAR. He also founded EXPLORATIONS OF NOTE, which has become one of the most respected online music education programs for advanced players worldwide.

The band includes Jonathan’s longtime collaborator, the brilliant drummer, Colin Stanahan, along with these masters: Javier Santiago: keys, and Luca Allemanno: bass.

Here’s a quick taster of the group:

Over the last 20+ years, The Spin has presented live music of the highest calibre within the broad 'contemporary jazz' genre, creating scintillating nights out for anybody with a taste for interesting, exciting, alluring and luscious music.

At The Spin, we believe that our events should be accessible to all, as well as affordable. This, in part, is only made possible with the help of our team of generous volunteers, who volunteer not only their time but also their expertise towards making our gigs the success that they are.

Every musician who plays at The Spin gets properly paid - and it is through your ticket purchases alone that we can do that. Our events are run on a tight budget to keep ticket prices down; we realise that not everyone can afford or may be willing to pay for higher ticket prices. However, for those of you who are happy to pay a little more and contribute further to the efforts of The Spin, we are giving you the opportunity to ’support the club' by making a voluntary contribution on top of your ticket price. These donations will be greatly appreciated and will help us to continue putting on our fantastic live jazz events.
