Described by Pat Metheny as “one of the best guitarists in the world”, John continues to thrill audiences across the world – as he has been over the decades, performing with such luminaries as Stephane Grapelli, Nigel Kennedy, Andy Summers (of The Police), John Williams, Soft Machine….and indeed, Pat Metheny!
Sting is quoted as having said. “I just wanted to be a real musician, like John Etheridge”
…and you can hear this guitar guru of complete awesomeness at our little club, up-close and personal! John will be hot – as ever – off an international tour with Soft Machine, so expect a night of incendiary guitaristic shenanigans!
By popular demand, we are also augmenting the band once again to feature up front, John’s Soft Machine partner in criminally-good groove, saxophonist extraordinaire, Theo Travis! Aside from a ‘who’s who’ list of colleagues in the jazz world, Theo has been the first call saxophonist for such major rock stars as David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), the super-group Gong – and of course, currently, Soft Machine!
The band features the killer rhythm section of Dave Jones on bass and Sophie Alloway on drums (you know that these are major players, right?!). Completing the band will be he who kicked off The Spin’s very first gig, alongside John, back in May 1999: guitarist Pete Oxley.
You will probably also know that these birthday gigs are great fun – and always sell out rapidly! So…don’t delay folks, please…book NOW!!!!

If you have purchased tickets for the show but can no longer attend, contact us via the form on the website or email info@spinjazz.com, we will happily refund you if the show is sold out and we are able to re-sell the ticket.
A note about the venue:
- The bar at Tap Social is card payment only.
- We seat people as much as possible on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. This means that those who buy tickets first are allocated the better seats (as opposed to that allocation being for those that show up first on the night)…so, BOOK NOW (and also save money on ticket prices with our early bird deal)!!
- We are ready to support people who have additional accessibility needs, please let us know in advance via the contact form in order for our team of volunteers to design the assigned seating plan to accommodate you.
