John came to prominence after studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and until his return to his native Scotland, divided his time between both sides of the Atlantic. On this side he as recorded and toured with the great Harry Beckett as well as with other jazz luminaries such as Liam Noble and Mario Castronari. On the other side of the pond, he has released albums with heavyweights such as Henry Franklin Jnr with whom John worked during an extensive stay on the West Coast of the States.
Over the last decade, John has concentrated on a career in Scotland and is regarded as one of the top saxophonists of the day there; he works with the cream of Scottish musicians such as Brian Kellock.
He has just released a new album 'You Are What You Hear' - an intercontinental colloboration with Chicago based drummer Adam Sorensen and German bassist Martin Zenker.
