'...a saxophonist of not only great technical prowess but also delicacy of expression...a faultless technique.' - The Times
Bobby Wellins, one of the elder statesmen of British jazz, recently described Julian as one of his favourite tenor players - considerable testament to Julian's wonderful playing. In addition to his playing schedule, Julian is planning ‘The South Coast Jazz Festival 2014’ with Claire Martin. He also appears with Eddie Parker, John Parricelli and Kit Downs in ‘Mr Vertigo’, and in April he will be rejoining Emil Viklicky in CZ after the latter’s release of his duo album with one of the world's great bassists, George Mraz. In May he will be reunited with the great ‘Loose Tubes’ for shows at Cheltenham Jazz Festival and ‘Ronnie Scotts’. Julian has worked with artists as diverse as Kirk Lightsey, the great American pianist, the late great Stan Tracey, Jimmy Witherspoon and the London Jazz Composers' Orchestra.
An extremely fine saxophonist - should be a great gig.
