Thursday 28th March 2019

Luca Stoll, one of Switzerland's leading tenor players and a fixture on the New York jazz scene for a decade, brings a great quartet to the club.  Joining Luca will be Dave Green, simply one of the best bassists on the international scene; Dave has played with some of the most influential musicians in this music, including Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz and Coleman Hawkins; Steve Brown is one of the finest, most swinging drummers currently working in the UK, and from the New York jazz scene is the superb Ofer Landsberg on guitar.

Luca himself studied, gigged and recorded in New York for many years before coming to settle in the UK. He studied with the great Branford Marsalis and has played with many of the greats in NY - drummers such as Kenny Washington and Alvin Queen, and pianists such as Richie Beirach and Joey Calderazzo. Luca brings an incredible understanding of the traditions in jazz to his playing and the influences of Coleman Hawkins, Parker and Lester Young all play a role, amongst many,  in his unique approach to improvisation.

A really superb band. We hope to see you on Thursday.
