The club features the second world leading New York group in little over a month. Phil Donkin is one of the most in-demand bassists in jazz today and regarded as one of the finest of the younger generation of jazz musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. His playing includes gigs, tours and record dates with the likes of  Quincy Jones, John Abercrombie, Kenny Wheeler, Tim Garland and Kurt Rosenwinkel and many others.

This stellar group of NY musicians comes to the Spin to launch their debut album on Whirlwind Records, The Gate as part of a European tour. The band features Grammy-nominated saxophonist Ben Wendel, known for his playing with Cuban drumming legend Ignacio Berroa and Prince. On piano is one of the rising stars on the New York scene, Glenn Zaleski and on drums is the superlative Colin Stranahan, winner of the Thelonious Monk Competition in 2012 and one of the leading drummers in New York (and last here with Jonathan Kreisberg).

The group's album, The Gate, has been described as a work of 'extraordinary depth and maturity, bursting with wit and intelligence...' This should be a remarkable gig.
