The Paul Jordanous All Stars

Tuesday 30th April 2024

The Spin’s opening gig at its new ‘2nd venue’, featuring the wonderful Mark Lockheart, on the 2nd April was - by all accounts - a great success! As a result of this success, the club has booked a run of Tuesday night gigs at the Summertown Wine Bar to compliment their other nights at Tap Social.

We continue by presenting a great band led by the brilliant trumpeter, Paul Jordanous. Paul’s musical career has seen him play from top level ’straight ahead' jazz (Clark Tracey Quintet), through the hippest of contemporary jazz stylings (with Paul Booth and Kit Downes), through some truly felonious funk with Redtenbacher’s Funkestra, to all sorts of major acts in the pop world! Paul is also a renowned keyboard player and producer…

Making up the ensemble for this special night will be the ever-popular organ virtuoso, Liam Dunachie along with drummer of taste and awe, Sophie Alloway and The Spin’s own Pete Oxley on guitar.

Expect a night of totally engaging contemporary jazz, to take you on an aural journey of delight via a mix of felonius-funk-meets-Thelonius-Monk, lush ballads – and some lilting latin loveliness thrown in!

A quick word about what the SWB has to offer! In a nutshell, the venue provides an intimate setting with a huge array of fabulous imbibements to select from:

- 30 wines by the glass
- over 300 wines in total
- a selection of great beers and cocktails
- a wide variety of light bites perfectly designed to accompany a great glass of wine. From cheese and charcuterie boards to their signature Tarte Flambee

There is no surcharge on any of the above for the Spin’s night; in fact, prices at the SWB are super-competitive with any other hostelry in Oxford!
