The Brandon Allen Groove Band

This is going to be a very special gig for The Spin, led by the ferociously brilliant tenor saxophonist, Brandon Allen!

Brandon’s career has seen him performing, recording and/or touring the world with the likes of Eric Clapton, Kyle Eastwood, Omar, Gary Husband, Paloma Faith, Stefano Di Battista, The Blockheads, US3, and many others. 

As you will note from the title, this is Brandon’s ‘groove band’ - which will give you a clue as to what to expect! Firstly, take note of this all-star line up, all first-choice players for fulfilling said grooves:

Brandon Allen – saxes/keys

Chris Montague – guitar

Jim Watson – keyboards

Dave Jones – electric bass

Jamie Murray - drums

Then, consider the vibe of the repertoire they will be performing: journalists in the know have likened Brandon’s music to Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Eddie Harris, Tom Scott, The Brecker Brothers, David Sanborn, Joshua Redman, film music and electronica.

This will be a killer gig at Tap; expect funky baselines, otherworldly drum grooves, soaring synthesisers and intricate and intoxicating sax/guitar melodies.
