The Spin Festive Fiesta, A 6-piece super-group or, the Hattie-less Hejira!
Two years ago, our Christmas gig was a one-off by an un-named band, put together to play the music of Joni Mitchell. By their second gig they had adopted the name, Hejira.

Joni Mitchell's 80th Birthday Celebration ~ performance by Hejira
Hejira is a 7-piece band that was initially set up for a one-off performance as a ‘Christmas Special’ at The Spin, 9 months ago. That gig had such a response that this thrown-together line up quickly became a ‘project' and is about to embark on an extensive UK tour this autumn. So far, all of their gigs have been sell-outs, so it is a coup to have booked the band to perform a special concert on Joni Mitchell’s 80th birthday!
Emily Saunders Band (featuring Snowboy)
Critically acclaimed vocalist, songwriter, producer Emily Saunders, dubbed UK’s ‘queen of jazz fusion’ takes the stage by storm, leading an exceptional band through her spellbinding set of original songs with ambient animated visuals. Celebrating Joni Mitchell feat. Hattie Whitehead
For the last gig of 2022, The Spin is putting on a celebratory concert of music by the unique, brilliant and inspirational artist, Joni Mitchell. Pete Oxley writes:
"I have long been a massive fan of Joni Mitchell’s music, ranging from the sparse, folky early albums (such as ‘Blue’) to the late, gorgeously lush albums arranged by the brilliant Vince Mendoza (Such as ‘Both Sides Now’ and ‘Travelogue’). Somewhere in the middle of her career was what some people describe as her ‘jazz period’ - and it is from this era that we will be creating the programme for this gig.
Josh Kemp & 'The Coltrane Project'
For this opening gig at The White House, we are putting on a special show, featuring reinterpretation’s of John Coltrane’s, ‘A Love Supreme’: a major work of deep spiritual power, representing a struggle for purity, an expression of gratitude and an acknowledgement that the musicians talent comes from a higher source.
