‘Chris Garrick is the best young violinist in jazz today’ - The Observer

Chris Garrick is without doubt the finest jazz violinist of his generation - using both electric and traditional steam instruments, he plays with a verve and passion that few can match. John Dankworth predicted he might become one of the finest jazz violinists ever (praise indeed). He is completely at home in the Western classical tradition as well as the various jazz worlds - bebop, hot club, fusion and the rest - a true virtuoso. Chris studied at the Royal Academy where he was awarded the Modena Prize. Since his studies he has gone on to work with the heaviest in and beyond jazz from Julian Joseph to Van Morrison via Dolly Parton. In the last few years, he has appeared with Wynton Marsalis at the Barbican, premiered the late John Dankworth’s Jazz Violin Concerto, performed Piazzolla’s ‘Four Seasons for Buenos Aires with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the South Bank, and played Carnegie Hall, New York with John Etheridge.
