Eddie Parker’s ‘Airborn’, with Rob Luft
Wednesday 11th February 2026
The Spin welcomes for the first time the genius all-round musician, Eddie Parker with his highly engaging band, ‘Airborn’, featuring the brilliant man-of-the-moment, Rob Luft on guitar!
Flautist and keyboardist Eddie was a member of the ground-breaking British big band, Loose Tubes, writing and performing all over the world with them before going on to work with Django Bates’ subsequent project, Delightful Precipice. Among many great outfits that Eddie has been involved with, he played a major role for some years in the great Bheki Mseleku’s band, appearing on Bheki's hugely successful first album Celebration with USA drummer Marvin Smitty Smith. The Guardian wrote this of Eddie:
‘Eddie Parker has a deliciously rich coppery tone, tells subtle stories in his solos, and is a fine composer into the bargain. It’s not surprising that record producers in the States, hearing Bheki Mseleku’s album for the first time asked, Who the hell’s the flute player?’
Eddie’s broad musicianship has led him to perform in all genres of music: he continues to work in jazz, world-music, classical and rock ensembles.
Rob Luft has in recent years become a Spin favourite, purveying his wildly brilliant (and beautiful) guitar playing with such masters as Iain Ballamy and Huw Warren. Rob is an ECM artist and is the recipient of last year’s ‘Best Instrumentalist’ at the Parliamentary Jazz awards!
With the ace rhythm section of Dave Manington (bass) and Jay Davis (drums) completing the quartet, this is unquestionably a formidable outfit that really must not be missed.
