Tim Whitehead w/ The Spin Band

Thursday 18th November 2021

Tim is one of those players for whom paragraph after paragraph of superlatives could be written. The Spin’s Pete Oxley has often described him as “one of my favourite saxophonists on this - or any other - planet!”, due to his playing which encompasses lyricism, muscularity and a sense of the blues throughout. So, for the very briefest of synopsises:

Tim was a founder member of the ground-breaking group, Loose Tubes. He then went on to form his own ensembles, winning such awards as ‘Jazz Album Of The Year' (BBC Music Magazine). He has collaborated with all sorts of artists, from piano ace Gwilym Simcock to writer, poet and national treasure, Michael Rosen! In 2009, Tim became the first ever musician to be hired as ‘artist in residence’ at Tate Britain, where he was tasked with performing live and spontaneously, in response to the paintings of JMW Turner. More details of Tim’s career can be read on his website: timwhitehead.co.uk

As a real bonus for this gig, the bass chair will be occupied by Andy Hammil - one of the most melodic bass players anywhere. Check out his excellent website: www.andyhamill.com

This promises to be a great gig, so do take advantage of the early bird tickets and book IMMEDIATELY!
