'...astonishing technique...he gives the world's best vibes players a run for their money...'  - The Guardian

Roger Beaujolais, probably the finest vibes player in the UK, comes to the Spin in as spellbinding form as ever. If you like to see mallets flying around metal like some sort of post-human dervish, then Roger is your man. In the last year, Roger has been touring with Jerry Dammers Special AKA Orchestra, and recording with Italian altoist, Tommaso Starace. If you go a little further back, you will have heard Roger playing with the likes of Robert Plant, Fairground Attraction and other artists who want his vibe.

In 2000, Gary Burton, perhaps the most complete vibes player in the history of jazz, was given a blindfold test by the British magazine, Jazz Review - the sort of test that has become part of jazz lore. In this test, Gary was played a piece by Roger and commented that the playing might well be one of the top new American players. Jazz has become a truly global phenomenon in the last few decades and Gary Burton's comments about Roger reveal the depth and quality of playing in the UK. Don't miss this wonderful gig.
