Same Moon In The Same World (Ant Law & Alex Hitchcock band)

SAME MOON IN THE SAME WORLD is an ambitious new collaboration between super-star jazz musicians, Ant Law (guitar) and Alex Hitchcock (saxophone). The album was recorded in 2020 and 2021 across multiple continents – bridging the gap between London and Tel-Aviv, Amsterdam and New York – it brings together a stellar cast of guest musicians performing new compositions. The band is now exploring the music in front of live audiences on an international tour.

This band is led by two of the hottest players on the UK (and beyond) jazz scene. Ant Law has a veritable CV that includes recording and touring with Tim Garland and Jason Rebello, plus with American superstars Jeff Ballard (Chick Corea) and Linda May Han Oh (Pat Metheny). Among many other plaudits, Ant was recently listed in the magazine ‘Guitarist’ as one of "10 astounding virtuosos”!

Alex Hitchcock has already wowed and wooed Spin audiences with his performances in 2022; firstly with his own quartet and the later, with the outstanding ‘Resolution 88’ band. BBC Jazz World said this of Alex:  ‘Ridiculous technique and harmonic proficiency combined with progressive creativity that sees him leading the charge in terms of new jazz music being created in the UK’ 

On bass for this gig will be one of the most creative and brilliant bass players anywhere: Jasper Hoiby! (Jasper will be known to many of the Spin audience from his rafter-raising performances with his band, Phronisis). As Mojo wrote: “Hoiby fashions his pieces so the lines between freedom and form are beautifully blurred, the music flows as a tumultuous organic whole - everything belongs, nothing is forced.”

Rounding off the personnel treat that you are all in for, is drummer Ernesto Simpson! A major jazz superstar in his own right, Ernesto has worked with so many ‘greats’, including Dizzy Gillespie, Michael Brecker, Arturo Sandoval, Herbie Hancock etc etc..
