Emily Saunders Band feat. Byron Wallen

‘An improvisational freedom that is rare in a debut recording’ - Jazzwise
Emily Saunders is a fine vocalist, tipped by John Fordham, jazz critic of the Guardian as a talent to watch out for in 2012 – we did and she brings her excellent band to the Spin. Playing numbers from her debut album ‘Cotton Skies’, Saunders mixes Brazilian grooves, great melodies and engaging solos. Her group includes some of the finest in the business and features Byron Wallen, leading trumpeter who has been on the road with the legendary Jack deJohnette in the last few years, Jon Scott on drums - one of the finest of the new generation of jazz drummers in London and Emily also brings two players who visit the club for the first time - Bruno Heinen on keyboards and the excellent Dave Whitford whose bass playing also graces the work of another fine vocalist, Christine Tobin.
