Hejira – celebrating Joni Mitchell

Following from last year’s sell-out show at the Oxford Playhouse, Hejira returns to the venue where the project began in December 2023: The Spin @ Tap Social! The band will be performing the ‘great’ songs from Joni Mitchell’s albums, ‘Court & Spark’ through to ‘Wild Things Run Fast’

As many of you will be aware, Hejira now has a pool of three outstanding singer/guitarists: Hattie Whitehead, Jana Varga and Immy Churchill. We are taking this opportunity to present Jana to the club. 

Jana has fronted two of Hejira’s Youtube videos: ‘Love’ and ‘Help Me’. The latter has gained phenomenal (by ‘jazz standards’!) traction, at the time of writing, having been watched 670,000 times!

This video was picked up by the internationally renowned jazz critic and author, Ted Gioia, who included ‘Help me’ in his recent list of ‘My favourite videos on Youtube’.

As a result of seeing Hejira’s videos, the band have been hired to perform at the 40th Syracuse (New York) Jazz Festival and are currently preparing for a short tour of North East America in July, this year (this tour will be fronted by Hattie).
