‘The Expansive Brew-Up!’

The Spin is delighted to be moving to Tap Social in Botley for this second show by The Expansive Brew-Up!

Thanks to your enthusiasms, (the biggest waiting list for returns - by far - that we’ve had!) we’ve created the perfect continuity where this band plays both the closing gig of a great venue - and then the opening gig of another great venue! The Tap Social is a little more remote, but once you get there, it’s worth it! - It’s more spacious, very vibey, has - of course - GREAT beers; there's plenty of parking and there are busses that go within a 5-minute walk of the venue.

So, in case you didn’t see the wording about the band from the first show, here’s a little more:

Firstly, the lineup:

Mark Lockheart ~ saxes

Frank Harrison ~ keyboards

Pete Oxley ~ guitars

Mark Hodgson ~ Basses

Rick Finlay ~ drums

Keith Fairbairn ~ percussion

The band will be performing a programme of what Pete describes as ‘groovesome, lush, joyous fare' - much of it Latin-based. This will include works by Lyle Mays, Egberto Gismonti, Carla Bley, Pat Metheny…plus some originals.

All of these players have worked worldwide and have - in various guises - worked on stage and/or recordings with such A-listers as Julian Joseph, Polar Bear, Sir Paul McCartney, Bill Bruford, Perfect Houseplants, Nigel Kennedy, Tim Garland, Paul McCandless, Kenny Wheeler….this list could go on and on!

We very much hope that you’ll want to be a part of kicking off this new venue - and showing it what a vibrant club you have invaluably contributed to The Spin being!
