Simon Spillett With The Spin Trio
Winner of the British Jazz Award for Tenor Saxophone 2011, Simon Spillett is recognised as one of the most dynamic, distinctive and hard-swinging saxophonists on the current UK jazz scene, appearing at venues such as Ronnie Scott's club in London and at major jazz festivals from Birmingham to Brecon, recording critically celebrated albums for the Woodville label and broadcasting with his own band on BBC Radio 3.

Nick Meier/ Pete Oxley Duo with Mark Doffman & Raph Mizraki
Virtuoso guitar player, Nick Meier teams up with The Spin’s Pete Oxley and launch their great new duo album; as well as playing a selection of duets from the recording, two becomes four for the second half of the evening when the Spin rhythm section of Raf Mizraki and Mark Doffman join Nick and Pete for some hard driving grooves, and some great soloing.

The Tommy Evans Orchestra
Tommy Evans is one of the most prolific and original composers in the UK. He founded Submotion Orchestra, critically recognized as the worlds first and finest live group to celebrate the cross-roads between jazz and dubstep, and is the musical backbone of one of the UK’s best festival bands, Gentleman’s Dub Club. The Tommy Evans Orchestra is a 13 piece group and features some of the finest young players in the country - three vocalists, horns and rhythm section with Evans conducting the group.

Damon Brown With The Spin Trio
Damon Brown is one of the finest trumpeters in the UK and one of the busiest musicians on the scene. In 2010 he undertook a tour of South East Asia and followed that with touring the UK, gigging as solo artist and also in the company of Steve Grossman, one time Miles Davis saxophonist and one of the great names in contemporary jazz.

Emily Saunders Band feat. Byron Wallen

Emily Saunders is a fine vocalist, tipped by John Fordham, jazz critic of the Guardian as a talent to watch out for in 2012 – we did and she brings her excellent band to the Spin. Playing numbers from her debut album ‘Cotton Skies’, Saunders mixes Brazilian grooves, great melodies and engaging solos.

Julian Nicholas With The Spin Trio
Julian came to prominence on the British jazz scene when he joined Loose Tubes, one of the most influential bands of the last 30 years on the European jazz scene – musicians such as Django Bates, Tim Whitehead and Julian Arguelles all emerging from the group. In Julian’s varied career since his time with Loose Tubes, he has worked in jazz with the likes of Jimmy Witherspoon, Bobby Wellins, Harry 'Sweets' Edison, Chris McGregor's 'Brotherhood of Breath, Dudu Pukwana, London Jazz Composers' Orchestra.

Tim Whitehead With The Spin Trio
Tim Whitehead was born in Liverpool , the son of one of the original writers of Dennis the Menace in the children’s comic, The Beano! His first public performance was as solo clarinettist in his school orchestra’s rendition of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, conducted by his fellow pupil, the now knighted, Sir Simon Rattle. Since that time, he has gone on to become one of the most distinguished saxophonists in UK and Europe.

Jon Lloyd Band feat. Asaf Sirkis & John Law
Saxophonist Jon Lloyd formed this wonderful Quintet in late 2009. The group features some of the finest musicians in the UK at the height of their game - pianist John Law is well known for his brilliant Art of Sound Trio, drummer Asaf Sirkis works with Tim Garland, Gwilym Simcock, Jeff Berlin and Gilad Atzmon. Guitarist Rob Palmer and electric bassist Rodney Teague complete the quintet.
