THE SPIN 15TH BIRTHDAY PARTY W/ John Etheridge & Late Show Special Guest
A very special occasion and one that we hope you can join us for, as The Spin celebrates 15 years with a birthday bash. The 15 years roughly translates into 670 shows and a collective audience of about 50,000 over the same period.
For this unfeasibly festive evening, we are really proud to welcome the musician who played with the Trio on the first date in 1999 - John Etheridge, regarded by many as one of the world's leading jazz and fusion guitar players and a world class performer.

Tim Whitehead was born in Liverpool , the son of one of the original writers of Dennis the Menace in the children’s comic, The Beano! His first public performance was as solo clarinettist in his school orchestra’s rendition of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, conducted by his fellow pupil, the now knighted, Sir Simon Rattle. Since that time, he has gone on to become one of the most distinguished saxophonists in UK and Europe.

From there, he went on to establish his reputation as a great jazz player - one of his most enduring associations was with another great - Stan Tracey – with whom Art played for over a twenty year period.

Julian Costello Quartet
A pleasure to have Julian Costello come to the Spin for the first time, bringing with him an extremely accomplished quartet. The band have released four albums to date: Edge of Distinction (May 2011) Der-Da-Di-Da (2009) Cake and Consequences (2004) and Tea and Scandal in 1996, all being well received in the jazz press and Julian's compositional skills can be heard on Channel 4 and Jazz Fm.

Theo Travis With The Spin Trio

A killer band with a US-meets-UK star line-up; ‘Bunch of Fives’ features the twin tenor saxes of Alex Garnett (Van Morrison, Rolling Stones etc) from London, and Tim Armacost (Maria Schneider and David Murray Bands) from New York. The rhythm section is also trans-Atlantic featuring three of the best players on either side of the water – Mike Janisch (New York) on bass as well as the great Liam Noble (piano) and James Maddren on drums.
