The Roger Beaujolais Spin Quartet
The Spin is delighted to welcome back after all too long, one of its favourite musicians; Roger has regularly blown away audiences at the Spin, dating back to the club’s very early days.
The Oxley - Meier Guitar Project
The Spin is delighted to welcome back to the OFS, the Oxley - Meier Guitar Project, a year-to-the-day since they filmed their superb ‘lockdown film’, streamed from the OFS to re-open the club after more than a year of Covid-caused closure.
John Law’s Congregation
The Spin has, for some time, been trying to secure a date for this extraordinary musician and his current project, ‘Congregation’; we are truly delighted to be bringing the band to The Spin for this gig.
The Louis Stringer Quartet
Since the reopening of the Spin, post lockdown, the club has been enjoying on many occasions, the inclusion in the house band of the wonderful double bass player, Louis Stringer. For this next gig, we decided to ask Louis to bring his own band of future superstars - hence, we present the Louis Stringer Quartet!
A David Gordon Special
David Gordon has been a Spin favourite for many a year - and with good reason: he is, arguably, one of the most brilliant, inventive and creative pianists one could hope to encounter anywhere! David’s musical career has been - and continues to be - hugely versatile, ranging from performing harpsichord with The English Concert to touring the world with the gypsy-tango band, Zum.
Charged Particles featuring Tod Dickow
The Spin are delighted to be welcoming to the Old Fire Station, the brilliant Californian band (of some 30 years standing!), Charged Particles. For this tour, they are featuring the exceptional tenor saxophonist, Tod Dickow in a set that will celebrate the music of the sax titan, Michael Brecker.
Paul Booth & Ross Stanley w/ The Killer Quartet
The Spin is truly delighted to have been able to book, for the same gig, two of the UK’s busiest and most exciting players: Paul Booth and Ross Stanley. These two have a great working relationship going back some years, and we are further delighted to have for the first time at the club another collaborator of this pair, the incredible drummer, Andrew Bain!
Julian Costello w/ The Spin Band
Julian Costello is one of the UK’s most lyrical and inventive saxophonists. Backing this statement up is this from Jazz In Europe:
" Julian Costello is a sax lyricist, telling his stories of life’s ups and downs with perfect alteration of tone to impart strength, humour and even frailty. This is a great album, strong, tenacious in its quality and simply makes a great listen”
Jonathan Gee w/ The Spin Band
It’s a great pleasure to be able to welcome back to The Spin one of the club’s favourite pianists: Jonathan Gee! Jonathan has been at the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene ever since the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ was awarded to him by The Guardian/Wire British Jazz Awards in 1991.
Byron Wallen’s Hurricane Bells
The Spin is delighted to welcome back one of the UK’s great trumpeters, Byron Wallen, with a brand new project featuring the cream of the UK's young-generation players.

The Spin is delighted to announce its first ‘club’ gig at the Old Fire Station.
Time Is Of The Essence
The Spin welcomes back to the club the band that re-opened activities on the 29th July this year, Time Is Of The Essence.
The band has amassed a huge pad of repertoire over the years, so they are promising to perform an entirely different programme to that heard at their last two Oxford appearances.
Damon Brown w/ The Spin Band
Having self-exiled himself to South Korea some years ago, it is now a rare treat to find ace trumpeter Damon Brown back on our island; the Spin is delighted to have secured this date with one of the club’s all-time favourite musicians. Damon is one of those trumpeters whose totally fluid improvising is always imbued with references to the blues.
Bossa Nouveau
Bossa Nouveau is - to coin a cliché - 'what it says on the tin’! The band intends to bring both the cool and the heat of classic and contemporary South-American fare to you for this performance. So, expect to hear pieces from A.C. Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Sergio Mendez, Durval Ferriera along with material by the likes of Chick Corea and Pat Metheny.
Tim Whitehead w/ The Spin Band
Tim is one of those players for whom paragraph after paragraph of superlatives could be written. The Spin’s Pete Oxley has often described him as “one of my favourite saxophonists on this - or any other - planet!”, due to his playing which encompasses lyricism, muscularity and a sense of the blues throughout.
Jim Hunt w/ The Spin Band
We have a killer gig lined up for you this week at the Jam Factory, featuring the extraordinary tenor saxophonist, Jim Hunt! Jim has been furiously busy (aside from - for some reason - over the last 18 months!) performing and recording all over the world, pretty much consistently for years.
Martin Shaw w/ The Spin Band
The Spin welcomes one of the leading trumpeters in the UK to perform at TOAD this coming Thursday. Martin Shaw has wooed and wowed Spin audiences in past years and we expect no less of a response at this gig!
Julian Nicholas w/ The Spin Trio
Julian has been a Spin favourite for many a year, purveying his uniquely lyrical and mesmerising playing on tenor, soprano saxes and bass clarinet.
The Liam Dunachie Quartet
We are thrilled to present this outstanding keyboard player in his own quartet setting, featuring a stella line up of players.
Acoustic Triangle
The Spin is delighted to be in partnership with Music At Oxford for this concert, featuring three of the UK’s greatest jazz musicians working on the International concert circuit.
