Tom Allan & Ollie Weston With The Spin Trio
Two extremely accomplished jazz musicians join us for this date - Tom Allan on trumpet and saxophonist Ollie Weston. Both players have cut their teeth on the London jazz scene - Tom specialising in Afro Beat (he works regularly with greats, Dele Sosimi and Tony Allen), and Ollie, known for his playing with the London Jazz Orchestra.

Snake Davis With The Spin Quartet feat. Pete Whitaker
Expect saxophonic fireworks from one of the great, and without doubt, one of the most recorded of British saxophonists. Snake has always managed to combine technical flair with r’n’b passion and stands comparison with the great soul/jazz artists such as David Sanborn, Grover Washington and Wilton Felder (The Jazz Crusaders).

Alex Hutton With The Spin Trio
A strikingly original pianist, Alex Hutton, began a playing career when barely out of his teens - touring and recording with Atlantic Records group Boy on a Dolphin; within a few years, he was heavily into jazz and after gaining a full scholarship to the Guildhall, he has gone on to record and gig as sideman with the likes of altoist Peter King, Don Weller and Dave O'Higgins amongst others.

Byron Wallen comes to the Spin as our special guest; just back from a tour of Australia in the company of the great Jason Yarde on sax and the legendary Jack DeJohnette on drums, the band has been touring down under playing a live soundtrack to the film Jack Johnson, re-working and developing the original played by Miles Davis in 1971.

Since being named Rising Star in the 1991 British Jazz Awards, Jon has gone on to work the some legendary names in jazz - Pharaoh Saunders, Joe Lovano and Benny Golson to name a handful.

Damon Brown With The Spin Trio
Damon Brown is one of the finest trumpeters in the UK and one of the busiest musicians on the scene. In 2010 he undertook a tour of South East Asia and followed that with touring the UK, gigging as solo artist and also in the company of Steve Grossman, one time Miles Davis saxophonist and one of the great names in contemporary jazz.

Art Themen With The Spin Trio
Without doubt, one of the most influential and respected of British tenor players of the contemporary period. Art's career began with his working on the London blues scene with Jack Bruce and Alexis Korner. From there, he went on to establish his reputation as a great jazz player - one of his most enduring associations was with another great - Stan Tracey – with whom Art played for over a twenty year period.

Orphy Robinson/ Pat Thomas/ Mark Doffman/ Raph Mizraki - ‘TING!’
Orphy Robinson, Pat Thomas, Mark and Raph are 'Ting!'. The group came together after a number of gigs last year in which the idea of reworking, deconstructing and reconstructing jazz standards emerged. Orphy is one of the key figures in the development of Brit Jazz in the 90s, a vibes player extraordinaire and at the forefront of the improvising scene in the UK over the last 20 years.

Nigel Price With The Spin Trio
Nigel is one of the finest jazz guitarists in the country - it's fair to say that he is also one of the most exciting players players around with his hard driving style and mesmerizing technique. Nigel came to prominence as the guitarist with the James Taylor Quartet and since that time, his reputation gone from strength to strength.

Little introduction is needed for one of the biggest names on the European jazz scene; it is always a privilege to welcome Gilad to the club. His work over the last 20 years has taken British jazz by storm, whether it be his groundbreaking fusion of jazz and middle-eastern influences in the Orient House Ensemble or his nod back to Charlie Parker with his ‘Gilad with Strings’ project

John Etheridge With The Spin Trio
No better way in our view to round off the season with a seasonal visit by the man himself, John Etheridge – one of the great guitarists and performers in world jazz, a view subscribed to not just by Metheny but so many of John’s peers (including this remark from Hendrix when John was starting out !!!).

An incredibly accomplished and exciting pianist, Janette Mason, has covered most of the gigs on the contemporary music scene from her high profile work touring with artists like Seal, Oasis, k.d.Lang and Robert Wyatt, through the years on camera as Musical Director for Jonathan Ross, to her gigging at the top jazz clubs and festivals in Europe and States – including the Atlanta and Rochester Jazz Festivals, and Carnegie Hall for good measure. She is up there with the very best!
