Will Barry Quartet
The Spin is delighted to welcome one of the UK’s most outstanding ‘new jazz generation’ pianists, Will Barry, appearing at the club for the first time as a bandleader.

Celebrating Joni Mitchell feat. Hattie Whitehead
Following the success of the last gig of 2022, ‘Celebrating Joni Mitchell’, we have organised a second show with the same personnel, performing the great songs from Joni’s ‘jazz period’.

Same Moon In The Same World (Ant Law & Alex Hitchcock band)
SAME MOON IN THE SAME WORLD is an ambitious new collaboration between super-star jazz musicians, Ant Law (guitar) and Alex Hitchcock (saxophone). The album was recorded in 2020 and 2021 across multiple continents – bridging the gap between London and Tel-Aviv, Amsterdam and New York – it brings together a stellar cast of guest musicians performing new compositions.

Chris Eldred & The Spin Special
The Spin is delighted to welcome as a guest for the first time, the outstanding pianist, Chris Eldred!

Harry Greene & The Spin Band
The Spin is delighted to welcome back the great ’new jazz generation’ saxophonist, Harry Greene. After Harry’s first appearance at the club last September, many in the audience for that gig were heard saying words to the effect of “that was the gig of the year”!

The Paul Booth / Ross Stanley Band
We are thrilled to be kicking off the 2023 Spin season with this truly great, super-star band; they will be performing the music from Michael Brecker’s masterpiece album, ‘Time Is Of The Essence’ - regarded by many to be Brecker’s greatest recording.

Celebrating Joni Mitchell feat. Hattie Whitehead
For the last gig of 2022, The Spin is putting on a celebratory concert of music by the unique, brilliant and inspirational artist, Joni Mitchell. Pete Oxley writes:
"I have long been a massive fan of Joni Mitchell’s music, ranging from the sparse, folky early albums (such as ‘Blue’) to the late, gorgeously lush albums arranged by the brilliant Vince Mendoza (Such as ‘Both Sides Now’ and ‘Travelogue’). Somewhere in the middle of her career was what some people describe as her ‘jazz period’ - and it is from this era that we will be creating the programme for this gig.

Liane Carroll
The Spin is truly delighted to welcome one of the greatest jazz performers that the UK has ever produced! Liane is a great pianist, a great singer and a great communicator. The club has genuinely been trying to book Liane for years (she was the first cancellation that the club had to make when Covid kicked in, back in March 2020!).

Time Is Of The Essence In….not a CD launch, not a book launch, but a world-first ‘LSL’ launch!
The chosen band for this auspicious night is the fabulous GROOVE band, ‘Time Is Of The Essence’, featuring the brilliant saxophonist, Ollie Weston (currently performing in stadiums all over the Far East!) and the outstanding drummer, Paul Cavaciuti!

Julian Nicholas & The Spin Band
Ladies and gentlemen, we take great pleasure in being able to present to you a wonderful musician, described thus:
"Julian is one of those rare players whose playing is a direct reflection of his true character and nature. Uplifting, intelligent, positive, genuine and filled with joy. I've enjoyed listening to him every time - one of my real faves! “ ~ Iain Ballamy

Tim Whitehead & The Spin Band
Tim is one of those players for whom paragraph after paragraph of superlatives could be written. The Spin’s Pete Oxley has often described him as “one of my favourite saxophonists on this - or any other - planet!”, due to his playing which encompasses lyricism, muscularity and a sense of the blues throughout.

Luke Vice-Coles & The Spin Band
With the view to continuing to promote players of ‘the new jazz generation’, we asked Harry Greene (yes, he, the tremendous sax player that blew everybody away at his gig at TOAD!)…who he would recommend to come and perform on trumpet. Harry’s response was instant: “Luke Vice-Coles is your man!” And so, we are delighted to be presenting this brilliant trumpeter at The White House for this date.

Josh Kemp & 'The Coltrane Project'
For this opening gig at The White House, we are putting on a special show, featuring reinterpretation’s of John Coltrane’s, ‘A Love Supreme’: a major work of deep spiritual power, representing a struggle for purity, an expression of gratitude and an acknowledgement that the musicians talent comes from a higher source.

‘The Expansive Brew-Up!’
The Spin is delighted to be moving to Tap Social in Botley for this second show by The Expansive Brew-Up!

‘The Expansive Brew-Up!’
Ladies and Gentlemen, we are very sad to announce that this will be the last gig at our favoured venue, (TOAD), for the foreseeable future. We are therefore intending to end this phase of the club in some sort of glory, and have put together a stonking six-piece band by way of celebration!

Resolution 88
This is a seriously funky outfit that draw their inspiration from Herbie Hancock’s ‘Headhunters’ band. Led by keyboardist Tom O’Grady, this band has already played many international festivals, opening for such heavyweights as Snarky Puppy, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and the Yellow Jackets!

Nigel Price & The Spin Band
What a treat to be able to welcome back to The Spin one of the most brilliant guitarists the UK has ever produced: Nigel Price!

Harry Greene & The Spin Band
This gig promises to be a real ‘New Jazz generation’ special, featuring the brilliant saxophonist, Harry Greene!

The Hugh Pascall Band
We are really delighted to be presenting this band of veritable super-stars for the first time at The Spin. We feel particularly lucky to have been able to book Hugh for this date, as he is about to embark on a project with the New York guitar guru, Peter Bernstein!

Dave O’Higgins With the Spin Special
Anybody that is a sax player, and anybody that is a fan of great sax players will know about Dave O’Higgins - for all the right reasons: Dave has quite rightly been acknowledged as one of the greatest exponents in the UK (and beyond) of this instrument for several decades!
